2019. Sara Sjödahl, grand piano, gadgets and Benedikte Esperi, body, choreographies, approach performatively, with all due respect and completely disrespectful, compositions by J.S. Bach. They attack the notes with improvisation, where the acoustic and analog are manipulated digitally. A new score is ”written” to the audience at every performance in their salon, hence the title Sara & Benedikte’s note books on BACH.
Their first meeting took place around Partita No. 2 in C minor. The collaboration started in 2018 with residency and scholarship from DCV. Now they move on and widen the battlefield. No note, tone or movement is secured and everything can happen.
’Musical salon is the term for a concert in an intimate setting with musical performance of smaller sizes. The music is not electronically amplified. ’The music is manipulated, the choreographies are brutal and we are even more intimate! /Sjödahl & Esperi
