2017. In collaboration with three composers, Ensemble Makadam has worked with time and space, sound and listening in different forms. In the work on this ”concert installation”, three compositions have emerged as well as ideas on lighting design and scenography. During the week Durations is ongoing in the lower foyer of the Gothenburg Concert Hall, each composer will, each day, have their works presented in their entirety, but also with elements of the ensemble’s improvisations. In addition to the concerts with the composers’ works, the ensemble performs two concerts of their own choice. The concert installation is open from noon every day until the house’s own program points. There you can hear about live musicians, as well as recorded material.

Ensemble Makadam works to break up and comment on composed works with improvisation and fragmentation. By combining classic works with planned and unplanned improvisations, holes about noise, new forms are created. It has become a working method that permeates most productions. It could be that in the middle of the sentences, blossom into improvisations, cut and paste from the works, prepare the instruments to find new sounds and work with different layers. The ensemble also collaborates with composers who work in the border country between recorded music and improvisation.
